Unicycle launches with auspicious fortune

January 1, 2007 - The night before launching Unicycle Creative, I was enjoying some of the best ginger beef in Vancouver (Great Wok Restaurant on west 4th) when I was sent a message from a higher power. Above is the fortune I found in my cookie, now permanently taped to my laptop.

OK, it's not quite an image of Jesus in a grilled-cheese sandwich. But it does nicely sum up what I'm trying to do with this one-wheeled venture. My ideals tell me that as a species we have to start rethinking our relationship with the planet. I also believe there will be major advantages to businesses that are early adopters of ecologically and socially sustainable practices - including marketing. If you share this vision and you need a dream-maker to help bring it to life, I'd love to hear from you.

In the meantime, feel free to poke around this site. You'll find some case studies (old, new, borrowed, blue) in the Brands section, some fun in the Art section, a list of services under Create and a lot of my own Crackerjack-box philosophy sprinkled throughout. It's all pretty new, so I'm really looking for feedback. Oh, and you may want to bookmark this page, as it will feature all the latest information as it comes in across the wires.

I'll be working here 'til the cows come home

Looking for an eco-friendly way to get my working space working better, I was very pleased to come across Brook Design, a local furniture maker who creates all their pieces from recycled barn wood. They accent their work with old doors, window frames and fixtures. The texture is full of history and life, and their custom design service allowed me to really tailor the pieces to my area. If you like the folk look, and want to save a tree, look them up. Gotta go now. Pigs need milkin'.

Unicycle client The Core climbing & fitness soon to open in Whistler

North America's #1 resort has a new attraction. It's underground, it's a local's favourite, and it kicks ass - into shape. The Core is located below the Telus Conference Centre at the heart of the Village and will offer indoor climbing, fitness, yoga, kids adventure centre and more. Unicycle handled all branding and advertising. To see some of the creative, check out the case study. To get ripped, get to The Core.
